Documents Show Delay in Toyota’s Issuing of U.S. Recall
Documents released to the public last week show that Toyota delayed issuing a recall in the U.S. over sticking gas pedals despite having already issued recalls in Europe and Canada. According to the New York Times, federal regulators struggled with Toyota officials when trying to get the recall issued and a resolution provided to consumers. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that he would seek the maximum fine against Toyota and additional possible fines are being contemplated by regulators.
