Philadelphia Police Sued Over Raid Tactics
The City of Philadelphia and the city’s police department have been sued over tactics used by a police drug squad. Jose Duran alleges that officers destroyed $15,000 worth of video equipment when they disabled his video surveillance system shortly after entering his convenience store, and stole $10,000 worth of merchandise and cash from the store. Another local business owner, also Latino, filed a similar suit against the police department over tactics used in a raid on his store. Joseph A. Slobodzian, Philadelphia Inquirer 09/12/2009
